My Coming Out Story

I spent a month this fall staying in this adorable 100+ year old adobe house in Northern New Mexico, which is one of the joys of working and studying online.

I was able to write and study every day, as well as hike in the remote clay hills around the ranch, and enjoy both rare and common wildlife encounters. My most thrilling sightings were a wolf and a snowy owl. Every day brought herds of deer and flocks of turkey to the fields, and coyotes prowled and howled during the nights.

Back in Canada now, I’m hunkering down for winter, planning and strategizing my next steps. (See below for an announcement about NEW YOGA classes and other programs coming in the new year.)

For the past year and a half (thank you, Covid), I have been studying intensively, doing an online coaching certification program through the Tantric Institute of Integrated Sexuality to become a Sex, Love and Relationship Coach (though, I prefer the title “Pleasure and Intimacy Coach”).

Is I write this “coming out” blog, I feel both excited and nervous, as it takes me back to the 1980’s when I first came out as bisexual in a world that had little understanding of what that meant, and even less tolerance for anything outside the heteronormative realm.

Thirty-five years later, we’ve come a long way in accepting love as love. But, there’s still work to be done, and many of us carry deep wounds around sex, love and relationships, no matter what our gender or orientation.

Outwardly, we have embraced sexuality in a much more integrated and holistic way, yet for many, there is still deep conditioning of shame and few healthy resources for healing.

It is my mission to bring awareness to, and to help change, this deeply rooted pattern, so that all can be liberated from the oppressive attitudes (both internally and externally) that cause so much pain and suffering.

I have just about completed the foundational 650 hour training, and will continue on for another year to specialize in Female Sexuality and Relationship Transformation.

This may seem like a huge shift in focus, but for me it’s actually a narrowing of my focus. I get to use all my therapeutic yoga tools, as well as a hefty new full toolbox, to help my clients release blockages and make leaps and bounds in self-love, relationships of all kinds, and personal pleasure and empowerment. I help people move toward the life they desire.

Yes, this work can help you improve your sex life too!

I chose the program carefully because of its integration with yoga movement, somatic healing, trauma awareness, breath work, sound work, meditation, and visualization. It brings together many of the tools that I am already using, but with a laser-focus on healing and integrating sexual and relational wounding, and also using pleasure to fuel an energized and desire-filled life, all using science-based approaches.

I use a mix of top-down and bottom-up approaches. Top-down means talking through the issues to come to a deeper understanding, awareness and change. Bottom up means tuning into the body’s wisdom to help uncover and integrate unconscious emotional patterns that are holding you back.

I have been coaching peers in my program, as well as outside clients for several months, and I’m ready to take the next step, which is to offer you the chance to sign up for a 1:1 coaching package with me at a drastically reduced rate. I only have space for a few people at this rate, so if you’re interested, act sooner than later.

If you think this type of coaching might be helpful for you, reply to this email that you’re interested in learning more and I’ll send you more information and a calendar link if you want to set up a quick chat to find out what it’s all about and if it’s a good fit for you, with absolutely no obligation to sign up.

I’m so excited about this work (and a little nervous as I “come out” as a Pleasure and Intimacy Coach), and hope that it sparks your curiosity to learn more!
